As you may have guessed by the sub-title to my LJ, I'm an Early Childhood Education worker. Which in laymen's terms means that I work with kids. I'd like to say that I'm the one who teaches them, but in all reality, they teach me. You can learn a lot about life from a bunch of four year olds, their perception of the World around them is so much more simple to understand than what we're led to believe in our adult lives. The actual title to this LJ is a reference to how I went from being a lead teacher in a Pre-Kindergarten to a lowly substitute teacher/teacher's assistant who doesn't work nearly as much as I'd like to.
As far as my personal life is concerned, I'm just your basic run-of-the-mill Gen-Xer boomerang kid in my 30's who has been squatting in my parents' house since I moved back here with the intention of moving back out once I got married to my now ex-fiance. Needless to say, it never happened. And I'm fine with that. Really.
Personality-wise, there are times when I can be impulsive, and other times when I'm strictly all about staying within a routine. I bitch a lot about things that normal people would think of as trivial bullshit, but I tend to be passionate about everything, whether it be loving, liking or hating something or someone. I'm also a geek, and I don't care what anyone thinks about that. I wear the label proudly and I'm not going to change or be fake just to appease anyone else. I am who I am. Deal with it.
Things that I like: The simple things about life that bring a smile to my face like listening to a favorite song, or watching a favorite movie or TV show or hanging out with the people I care most about.
Star Trek: The Next Generation. Yes, I am a Trekkie and I don't care what anyone thinks about that. I've been to conventions and I've seen every episode about a million times and I have most of them on tape. I'm also a Sci-Fi fan in general. It's escapism at its best, people. Don't knock it unless you've tried it.
Things that I love: Kids. They're honest, straightforward and a hell of a lot smarter than most adults give them credit for. You can learn a lot about life by looking at it through the eyes of a child. You should try it sometime, it's great.
My family. We might be dysfunctional as hell, but I love them all just the same.
Things that I hate: People who don't like kids. People who are fake. People who are shallow. People who have no concept of what having a sense of humor is. Hypocrites who have nothing better to do than spreading rumors about people, hiding behind a computer screen instead of having enough balls to say shit to their face. Head games and the people who play them. Perverts, child molestors, gay bashers, bigots, Pro-Lifers, Osama bin Laden and George W. Bush.
That about sums it up for now. This is the real me.
